Active and Offsetters offer you the opportunity to make your natural
gas consumption climate friendly. For more information, check out our Green Program
If you're purchasing your natural gas from the city of Kitchener, Active Energy can save you money.
What you need to qualify:
You must be purchasing you Natural Gas from the City of Kitchener, not Union Gas or any other Licensed Gas Marketer.
You must be or have access to the primary account holder.
You must want to save money!
If you meet the above requirements, the following facts apply to you:
Your rate for natural gas supply is 31.6 cents per cubic metre
Your transport charge is 4.491 cents per cubic metre
Your delivery charge is 6.183 per cubic metre
This can all be found on your current natural gas bill, or on this Disclosure Form, generated by the City of Kitchener.
So how do I save money?
Instead of paying 31.6 cents per cubic metre for you Natural Gas, you can choose to switch to 27.9 starting in November 2009 for a 1 year term.
You don't need to do anything at the end of your term to cancel
There are no hidden fees or extra charges
Your delivery and transportation rates stay the same as they are now
There is no fine print, interruption of service, or installation required
You will still receive all of your natural gas services from the City of Kitchener, and you will not receive a bill from Active Energy.
How is this possible?
Active energy offers a competitive market price, whereas the City of Kitchener charges a rate that reflects their supply cost plus administration. Our rate is simply lower than the Utility’s!
What if the city's rate decreases?
Historically, the city reviews its rates once per year, in the spring, and then it may adjust that change in the fall. The city did not change its supply rate this spring, so there is no change to review this fall.
If the City decides to decrease its rate next spring, the impact to our customers will be very small, since you use next to no gas during the summer months.
